Viktoria Stadlmayer from Brixen-Innsbruck

Viktoria Stadlmayer is justly referred to as the “grand dame” of northern Tyrol’s South Tyrol policies. As the head of department “S” (for South Tyrol) of the provincial government of northern Tyrol, starting in 1957, she undertook major efforts on behalf of the problems in her homeland. Because of these efforts, in 1961, Viktoria Stadlmayer was arrested in South Tyrol on the grounds of “antinational propaganda.” She was released after 43 days. She can be regarded as a BAS sympathizer, but rejected the use of violence.
